Scott came wishing with my Dad Jerry Choma and I along with friends Grant Ford and others.

I worked with Scott in Snapon for a couple years.

Scott is a great guy and I got along with him. That fishing trip wasn’t the best for salmon but I was able to catch my first halibut and with Scott’s help yelling from the other boat beside us. I was able to land that 82lb fish.

Thoughts and prayers are with Scott and his family.

March 24 . First Update on Scott

Scott is now home with his family. We will use this forum to share any updates so we can let everyone know about what's going on. We truly appreciate your care and can feel the love from all across the globe. We would like time to process the news, as you can imagine its overwhelming. As much as it would be nice to be able to respond to messages and phone calls; texting back the same news multiple times, is something that feels too big to tackle at the moment. Here's what we know. Scott has pancreatic cancer that has made its way to other areas in his abdomen. It became noticeable around end of December with some stomach pains. The visit to the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton was today, March 24, 2022. The amazing doctors and care team answered all the questions that we, as a family, have had. The cancer is advanced enough that Chemo or other treatments are not a reasonable option. Scott does not want to spend what time he has left feeling the eff...

Time was too short Our time with our father has come and gone. As we all know now there is never enough time. We have spent the remaining time with dad alone and as a family holding his hand and talking. We have read him all our posts and everyone’s responses. Dad was the greatest man WE ALL knew. We will strive our whole life to be half the human Scott was and still won’t come close to touching the lives he has touched. The final days were some of the hardest moments of our lives as we watched his strength drained from him. There were heartfelt moments and lots of tears as we sat around his bed saying goodbye. Lessons from the first year

April 9th. Reflecting back on the last year, here's some things I know to be true. Life moves on at the same pace it did before. Pain of loss doesn't go away, it just becomes strength inside you. If you want to be sad all day, you can, but its not a good use of your time. Empathy grows, always So does compassion Sharing your experience might feel difficult, and although maybe not immediately, you feel better later knowing that you're not alone. Happiness is a choice you need to make as often as humanly possible Being happy does not diminish grief, it means you are trying to be happy despite the pain you might feel inside. What others think of your grief journey is none of your business. If they think you're doing it wrong, let them. You don't have to answer to anyone but yourself.
